Installation View of Ebb & Flow

An immersive audio-visual experience re-imagining natural phenomena and the built environment with real-time tidal data.

The climate crisis is changing the rhythm with which global tides ebb and flow (as a result of changes in the Gulf Stream System - Potsdam Institute of Climate Research). Current tide tables, which forecast tides down to the minute many years into the future, may prove to be inaccurate due to an increase of flash flooding, droughts, and rising sea levels.

Ebb & Flow, transformed Troy House Art Foundation’s London project space into an immersive audio-visual experience, using real-time tidal range data, accompanied by submerged sounds of the river Thames at Nine Elms. The work was also simultaneously accessible online via live stream.

Ebb & Flow highlights where we are with local tides at the present moment in the timeline of tidal history. The exhibition animated transitory experiences of living on the River Thames in the current time as mass development and change is happening in the local area.
